This is my first essay that I turned in for school/college. My professor was very satisfied with it, so I thought I would share it with you guys❤
🌸You would not think that something as simple as typing on a computer could save someone’s life, but it saved mine. If you would have told me a year ago that I was going to be a blogger I would have probably dismissed you. I remember thinking it was so lame and overrated because ninety-nine percent of bloggers only talk about fashion and beauty, which is cool, but what about when all of that is gone? Who are you without all of the makeup and clothes; do you accept it? Once I realized blogging was my outlet, it was my goal to express this. Blogging gave me confidence and a way to save other people’s lives.
🌸In the beginning, writing blogs was very rocky, but once I started getting noticed for them, my confidence level boosted through the roof! When I first created my blog, I told myself I wanted to make it different, yet relatable. I also told myself that it was going to be very hard to catch an audience because not many people are into blogging anymore, and I’m talking about one of the most avoided subjects: low self-esteem. I had all these thoughts in my head. “No one will like the trash you write, Ashanti. Who cares about low self-esteem?” Once I started writing more, I realized there are a lot of girls that suffer from low self-esteem, but they don’t know how to talk about it. Having young girls email me telling me I helped them get through the lowest moments in their life gave me so much self-worth and confidence. I finally felt like I had something to add to this world.
🌸My motive for blogging was to save myself, but I quickly realized it saved so many people along the way. One thing that I’ve learned in life is whatever you’ve gone through someone else is currently going through the same thing. I firmly believe that we don’t just go through troubles to strengthen ourselves, we also go through them to help the next person. Anytime I write I always remind myself “Ashanti write for you, and you’ll be able to relate to thousands.” In order to affect someone’s life you have to be able to relate to them. Since I knew not many people spoke of low self-esteem, I wanted to be the voice for many, I wanted to be able to speak for all the girls that were afraid to speak up, and I wanted to save them like blogging saved me.
🌸Blogging gives me something to be happy about and look forward to. It has been keeping me out of trouble and helping me focus on the things that really matter in life. The effects that blogging has had on people around me motivates me to continue writing. Even though I used to hate the nights where I would stay up and type in my notepad, it lead to something bigger and greater. Without blogging, I don’t know where I would be, and I don’t want to find out; therefore, I will always be thankful that writing blogs saved my life.
Love,
Shanti

Journaling saved my life. I started journaling when I went to college in 1978. I thought I had a grasp of who I was, but college created more oprions of who I could be, letting go the sheltered suburbia my identity grew from. My journal was a place I could explore and try to figure myself out. Big difference between words never to see another set of eyes and publishing for the world.
Writing definitely saved my life.

Wow! What a great post, I am glad we were able to connect on here. I have only been blogging for a little over two months now and I find that it gives me something to be excited about again which most things in my life has become so routine that I was no longer excited to do my daily tasks, even up to today I continue to do things day to day that I find exhausting although I really am not tired…just no longer interested I guess. It is amazing how blogging can spark change in one’s life huh? When I first started as well I had no idea what I was going to talk about and thought no one would care to read because I did not specialize in anything but day by day I notice if it is something I find interesting there’s a good chance someone else out there will as well!
Your story is very inspiring and I am glad to hear that you were able to find such great strength to help others as well by sharing your experiences. I can’t wait to read more about your blog =) Thanks for visiting my page!
Take care

I know what you mean by low self-esteem. I’ve had it all my life, no matter what I accomplish. But hang in there. Be proud of anything you do that’s good — and don’t be so hard on yourself. I’m not sure there is ever perfection! Thanks for following Oh, the Places We See. And best wishes for good times always while blogging! Rusha Sams
